Sunni Waqf Board Will Not File Review Petition on Ayodhya Case in Supreme Court
The Sunni Waqf Board on Tuesday decided not to file a review petition against Supreme Court’s verdict in Ayodhya land dispute case. “The meeting was attended by seven of the eight members of the board, six members voted in favor of not filing the review petition,” Zufar Farooqi, the Chairman of Sunni Waqf Board said.
After the Ayodhya verdict was delivered, Farooqi was against filing a review plea, but some board members publically expressed their disagreement against the stand. On the other hand, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has been adamant that the review petition will be filed against the Ayodhya verdict.
Around 100 renowned Muslim personalities have also opposed the idea of filing the review petition. They have cited that keeping the matter alive won’t help the community and will lead to the development of unrest in society. The letter was written by Islamic scholars, social activists, lawyers, journalists, poets, filmmakers, actors, and other eminent personalities including Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi.0 Replies to “Sunni Waqf Board Will Not File Review Petition on Ayodhya Case in Supreme Court”
