The stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma in his 100th T20I for India played a match-winning knock of 85 off 43 balls to level the 3 match series against Bangladesh. India was chasing 154, after inviting Bangladesh to bat first. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan stitched a partnership of 118 runs in less than 11 over’s for the first wicket. Shreyas Iyer finished the game for India with a cameo of 24 off 13 balls.
Invited to bat first, Bangladesh made a lightening start putting on 60 for the first wicket in 7 over’s. Indian bowlers led by Yuzvendra Chahal restricted Bangladesh to 153 runs. Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah Riyad’s 30 off 21 helped the visitors to cross the 150-mark.
Pacer Deepak Chahar (1-25) and All-rounder Washington Sundar (1-25) curbed the flow of runs but Khaleel Ahmed’s (1-44) poor form continued. Khaleel was hit for 3 consecutive fours in his very first over by Mohammad Naim.
‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma dominated Bangladesh’s bowling attack from the beginning. He smashed three consecutive sixes off Mosaddek Hossain Saikat and scored 60 (six 4’s and six 6’s) with boundaries out of his 85 runs. He fell short of his fifth hundred in the T20 cricket while trying to hammer 7th seventh six of his innings.
In the 1st T20I played in New Delhi, Mushifiqur Rahim’s unbeaten 60 off 43 balls guided Bangladesh to 7 wicket victory over India. It was Bangladesh’s first victory over India in T20I cricket.
