“PFI is Involved in Anti-National Activites,” Says UP Additional Chief Secretary.

The Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested 108 members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) for their alleged involvement in violence during the Anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act in various parts of the state. UP Police had earlier arrested 25 members of the organization. Additional Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Home Department, Awanish K Awasthi, and UP DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthy briefed media on Monday, about the action taken by the state administration.
“108 people have been arrested in the last 4 days, these are in addition to the 25 who were arrested earlier,” Additional Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Home Department, Awanish K Awasthi said.
“More information is being gathered about the organization, including information about their financial transactions. We are also taking assistance from central agencies, our target is to identify them & take action,” Additional Chief Secretary further added.
Uttar Pradesh Police had earlier stated that it has sufficient proofs against PFI’s involvement in violent Anti-CAA protests in Uttar Pradesh. UP Police has also alleged several members of PFI have been associated with the banned Islamic group Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), in the past.
According to UP Police, PFI members were active in Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Shamli, Bijnor, Gonda, Barabanki, Bahraich, Varanasi, Azamgarh, and Sitapur areas, during the protests against the new legislation. 23 people were killed in Uttar Pradesh during violent protests against the new legislation.0 Replies to ““PFI is Involved in Anti-National Activites,” Says UP Additional Chief Secretary.”
