Newly Inducted Chinook and Apache Choppers to be Part of Republic Day Parade


India will celebrate 71st Republic Day on 26th January 2020. Newly inducted Chinook heavy airlift helicopters and Apache attack choppers will be part of the Republic Day flypast by the Indian Air Force (IAF). A total of 41 aircraft will participate in this year’s Republic Day parade.

The tableau of the IAF will consist of models of 5 systems namely, Rafale fighter jets, indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopter, Light Combat Aircraft, Surface to Air Guided Weapon Aakash Missile system, and the Astra Missiles.

Flight Lieutenants Gagandeep Gill and Reema Rai are the two lady officers, in the 148-member Indian Air Force contingent to take part in the 26th January parade. Warrant officer Ashok Kumar of the IAF will lead the band for the consecutive 12th year.

The heavy-lift Chinook helicopters were inducted in the Indian Air Force in March 2019. These helicopters can transport artillery guns and troops to high altitude locations. The combat Apache choppers were inducted in IAF, in September 2019.
