The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Chief has filed a review petition against the Supreme Court’s verdict in Ayodhya land dispute case.

The main contention in the case was that the mosque was built by destructing a temple. The court said that there was no evidence that the mosque was built after destructing a temple; the title of Muslims, therefore, was proven, but the final verdict was the opposite,” Maulana Arshad Madani, chief of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind said.

The court has given us this right and the review must be filed. So we are filing a review as the verdict is beyond understanding”, Madani further added.

Earlier on Monday, Zafaryab Jilani, a member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) clarified that AIMPLB will file the review petition before December 9. Recently, the Sunni Central Waqf Board has decided against a review plea.

“We are not going to file the review petition (in the Ayodhya case) before the Supreme Court today. We have prepared the review petition and we can do it any day before 9th December,” Zafaryab Jilani said on Monday.

On November 9, a constitutional bench headed by then CJI Ranjan Gogoi, in its verdict paved way for the construction of Ram Temple on the disputed site. In the verdict, the apex court also promised a prominent site for the construction of the mosque.
