International Kite Festival 2020
International Kite Festival is being celebrated since 1989, every year all master kite makers and flyers from all over the world come to demonstrate their unique creations and wow the crowds with highly unusual kites.
The festival commenced on 7th January and will continue till 14th January. The entry to the Kite festival and Culture Programm is free for all age groups. The visiting hours are from 10 am to 5 pm and for Cultural Programme it is from 8 pm to 10 pm. This festival is celebrated to mark the days in the Hindu calendar when winter begins turning to summer, known as Makar Sankranti or Uttarayan.
On 14th January all types of kites are flown, and the main competition is to battle nearby kite-flyers to cut their strings and bring down their kites. At the beginning of November, production of kites and kite supplies can be seen on the streets of Ahmedabad to get ready for Uttarayan, a special market is set up that appears in the old city. A classic attraction of this event is master kite maker and famous kite flyer Rasulbhai Rahimbhai of Ahmedabad trains of up to 500 kites on a single string.0 Replies to “International Kite Festival 2020”
