Uddhav Thackeray has created history after being elected as the first member of the Thackeray clan to became Chief Minister. He will take oath as the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra at 6:40 pm today, at the Shivaji Park in Mumbai’s Dadar area.
About Uddhav Thackeray
Born on 27 July 1960 is an Indian politician and also the President of the Shiv Sena. He was a photographer and he use to present his work at exhibitions, since 2004 has had complete control over the party since then he has worked at a state level and has secured several political victories for his party. Earlier he was reluctant to join the party and he is a author and a professional photographer whose work has appeared in numerous magazines. There are numerous books and magazines which Uddhav has published as photographer and writer. He is keen in photography and has exhibited his collection of aerial shots of various forts of Maharastra at the Jehangir Art Gallery in 2004 along with it he has also Photo Books Marashtra Desh (2010) Pahava Vitthal (2011), capturing various aspects of Maharashtra and the warkaris during Pandharpur Wari respectively in the two books.
His Entry In Politics
In his starting period, he was reluctant to join the party but he was handed the responsibility of managing the party during the 2002 Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation election, also known as BMC elections, and Shiv Sena performed well this was the first time when his leadership and management qualities came into limelight. Thus his father declared him as the next party Chief. Though every one thought that Raj Thackeray would be most likely to be the successor of Balasaheb, after Uddhav was declared, he left the party in 2006.

His major achievement was winning the 2002 BMC election while working as the Shiv Sena chief campaigner.
Debt relief campaign for the farmers of the Vidarbha district of Maharashtra was organized after the farmers were under heavy debt following a long dry spell in the region in the year 2007.
He once again won in the BMC elections in the year 2012. Shiv Sena has always followed the ideology of “Marathi Manoos” thus he shifted the focus of his campaign from regionalism to development.
Uddhav Thackeray has managed to transform the image of Shiv Sena from a violent and often militant outfit to that of a well-organized unit that is run by someone who cares about the state and its welfare.
