Sujeet Pandey and Alok Singh Appointed Police Commissioner of Lucknow and Gautam Buddha Nagar
ADG Sujeet Pandey and ADG Alok Singh, have been appointed as the first Police Commissioner of Lucknow and Gautam Buddh Nagar respectively. The proposal to implement the Police Commissioner System was approved by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Monday. Two women officers of SP and AP ranks have been also appointed to curb crimes against women in these two districts.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the media after the cabinet meeting. He said the appointment of Police commissioners is a strong step towards police reforms, and improving the law and order system in the region.
“The biggest step towards police reform has been taken by our Government today. Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved the proposal to set up police commissioner system in Lucknow and Noida,” UP CM Yogi Adityanath said in the press conference.
“Two women officers of Superintendent of Police (SP) & Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) ranks each are being deployed to curb crimes against women in the new police commissionerates,” CM Yogi further added.
Uttar Pradesh DGP OP Singh also welcomed the initiative of appointing Police Commissioners in Lucknow and Gautam Buddh Nagar.
“There will be an exchange of smart and sensitive policing, effective policing and integrated policing through this. It will further help in crime control,” UP DGP said.
