84 Attempts of Infiltration in J&K since August 5, Government Tells Parliament


Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) presented statistics related to incidents of infiltration and casualties of terrorist attacks in the Jammu and Kashmir, after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A. MHA reported that according to Government records, 19 civilians including residents of other states have been killed by terrorists since August 5. There have been 84 incidents of infiltration attempts from Pakistan.

“Incidents of terrorist violence declined after 5th August. From 5th August 2019-27th November 2019, there have been 88 such incidents as compared to 106 such incidents from 12 April 2019-4 Aug 2019,” MHA stated in Parliament.

“There has been an increase in the number of infiltration attempts from across the border. During the 88 days from 5th August 2019 – 31st October 2019 there have been 84 such attempts as against 53 such attempts from 9th May 2019 – 4th August 2019,” MHA further added.

As per the report of Government of J&K, 19 civilians including non-Kashmiri laborers have killed in terror-related incidents since 5th August 2019. An ex-gratia of Rs.1 lakh is paid to the next of kins of civilians killed in militancy-related violence under the existing scheme of Jammu & Kashmir Government. Also, Rs.5 lakhs is given under a central scheme,” MHA told the members of Parliament.
